A series of recent IKEA storage Huff Post takeovers required me to work with London based creative agency Mother, and digital production agency Media Monks. To illustrate the benefits of their storage solutions, a series of interactive overlays were created where users lead clothes, toys, and books to a range of products. After initially planning for the creative to be built using HTML5 for the cross device benefits, we decided to go with Flash because of tight campaign deadlines and questions around the mouse reliant aspects of the idea. This decision paid off and the campaign went live on time without too much trouble.

The leaderboard, MPU, and overlay units needed to work together. This required a little Pictela magic on my part because the timing at which certain elements in the overlay had to be triggered, was crucial to the effect being seamless.

Each unit listened for events from the others via an additional Javascript file served to the page and the Pictela ActionScript 3 API. The extra work paid off and the end result ended up looking pretty cool in my opinion. The agency and client were both very happy with what we had achieved, especially considering this was all executed within ad units that were served separately to the page.
